Create memories at Speke Hall this autumn

Children enjoying the play area at Woodchester Park, Gloucestershire.

Did you know that Speke Hall grounds, Home Farm Restaurant and the National Trust shop are now open 363 days a year? The manor house is also open from Wednesday to Sunday until 5 November: with Tudor and Victorian guided tours and over 400 years of fascinating history to explore, it’s the perfect place for a family day out.

Speke Hall is a great family adventure! With several playgrounds and plenty of activity for all ages, there’s plenty to keep you coming back again and again. Have you conquered the hedge maze? With 12 gates, 5 bridges, 4 finger mazes, 3 weathervanes and a viewing platform. It’s a-maze-ing! The ‘Giant Childe of Hale Play Trail’ is like walking through a real fairy tale. Will you find the snoring giant? Play the vegetable patch instruments? Discover if you’re a ‘Baby Giant’ or perhaps a ‘Peasant’ on the height chart!

Enchanted Speke continues into the autumn with the magical ‘Hansel and Gretel’ outdoor play trail [21 Oct to 5 Nov]. Follow the giant stones for clues to solve the trail through the enchanting woodland. Will you spot the witch . . ?

The grounds are glorious in the autumn so wrap up warm and get out exploring. There are many beautiful areas to discover and enjoy, including the semi-ancient Stockton’s Wood, the coastal reserve, the magnificent herbaceous border in the Moat Garden and the picturesque new ‘Secret Garden’; hidden away just off the North lawn.

Speke Hall really is the place to make memories to treasure this autumn. A unique oasis, brimming with history, on your doorstep.
