Recycling Officers from Veolia and Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority are asking residents to check if unwanted items can be reused this Christmas.
If you find yourself with items that you no longer need but are in a reusable condition then consider donating them to an Emmaus reuse shop. There are two shops located at Recycling Centres in Merseyside, so you can drop in to the reuse shop at the same time as dropping off any extra recycling you may have over the festive period.
The reuse shops accept used and ‘pre-loved’ items from Merseyside householders. Instead of being recycled, reprocessed or sent for disposal, the donations will be cleaned and put up for sale. The money generated is used to support formerly homeless people at Emmaus Merseyside. With a whole range of items accepted, such as furniture, children’s toys, tools and bric-a-brac. Emmaus also carry out PAT testing on site, so electrical items can be sold.
Over the festive period there is an increase in the amount of unwanted items that are taken to Recycling Centres for disposal, so it’s a great time to grab a bargain as well. The Emmaus Reuse Shops are located at South Sefton Recycling Centre, Irlam Road, Bootle and Old Swan Recycling Centre off Cheadle Avenue in Liverpool. There is also an Emmaus Superstore on Sandy Road in Seaforth.
