Pantomimes – A tradition that the curtain will never close upon

Slapstick antics, unavoidable double-entendres, and a whole load of glitter – the pantomime season is in full swing.

There are an abundance of things to look forward to during the festive period, but one of the most anticipated aspects is spending time together as a family. There is something uniquely special about attending a pantomime with loved ones. The waves of anticipation buzzing throughout the audience and the feeling of nostalgia that is all too relatable when watching your own getting involved with the pantomime atmosphere – nothing compares! A central part of the season for families, it’s a Christmas ritual for those looking to immerse themselves in mayhem, mischief and musical entertainment.

If you are looking for festive excitement, indulge in the outrageous humour and sheer magic of an unpredictable, live performance such as All Souls Dramatic Club’s extravagant and modern production of ‘Peter Pan’. Fly to Neverland and experience the enchanting story of a boy who never grew up… with a pantomime twist.

All Souls Dramatic Club are a local amateur theatre company based in Southport Town Centre who produce a pantomime on an annual basis.  All Soul’s style has evolved in recent years to be a contemporary, family friendly spectacle that still maintains the elements of a traditional pantomime, encapsulated perfectly in their new production.

The cast is made up of performers aging from 16 up to 84 who all have one thing in common, their love for performing in pantomimes. The club allows ‘regular’ people to fulfil their dreams of performing. The show promises to be a rip-roaring, swashbuckling, magical extravaganza for all the family, staged at The Atkinson Theatre in Southport from Thursday 14th January until Sunday 24th January – It is sure to be a unmissable event for the young and young at heart!

The script combines laugh out loud dialogue along with slapstick comedy intertwined with well-known songs and dance numbers. The performance will most definitely keep spirits high and sprinkle a little magic upon your yuletide schedule.
